Technical Search Signal Privacy Policy (0.3.0)

Last updated: 2026-07-28

Technical Search Signal labels and folds Google technical search results locally. Its single purpose is to help developers identify useful technical results faster.

What stays on your device

Local search scoring and settings behavior remain on-device. Search queries, Browsing history, search-result content and URLs, click history, domain rules, rule-pack selections, and settings files are not sent to the account or payment backend.

The extension processes visible search results only on supported Google search pages to apply local labels and folding. Import and export remain local: an export creates a local JSON download, and an import reads only the settings file the user selects.

chrome.storage.local stores local settings such as the enabled state, fold strength, label visibility, domain rules, rule-pack selections, and the Pro preference. The extension does not use settings sync.

Account and payment data

A Google account is optional for the permanent Free tier. If you choose Google sign-in, Google account and Google OAuth are used for purchase, entitlement verification and refresh, Restore purchase recovery, and hosted Purchase history and invoice access. Google OAuth supplies the account identity for those actions. The configured scopes are openid, email, and profile.

Supabase stores the authenticated account, Paddle linkage, entitlement state, and event-processing records needed to provide purchase, recovery, verification, refresh, and revocation handling. The complete Supabase authentication session, including authentication credentials, is persisted locally in the extension's IndexedDB for sign-in persistence and automatic refresh; it is removed by local sign-out. Paddle processes the USD 2.99 one-time payment and maintains the transaction, refund, invoice, and hosted purchase history.

The local entitlement cache lasts at most 30 days and stores only the active account identifier, entitlement state, verification time, and expiration time. It supports temporary offline access after a successful entitlement verification; it does not contain search or settings data.

What we do not use

The extension uses no analytics, telemetry, advertising, tracking, remote code, or settings sync. It does not sell or share user data for advertising or other unrelated purposes.

Technical Search Signal's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
